262loved him, I would stand a side and she could go and live with him. Because I loved her, I just wanted her to be happy. I might have even suggested that I would move out. Probably round about then he arrived home to find that Sue had put her wedding ring on the table and was not prepared to wear it again until he gave up with Gabby, who was beginning to think that the whole thing had been a mistake and it drifted to an end. I also gave up scouting to reduce my external commitments.John was not in a panto again, although not everyone knew why. His daughters were however and so I expect he watched it. While all ofwhat I have just described was going on so did life. I co-wrote the panto Dick Whittington, I was the usual idiot, Gabby was not principal boy but Winston, a blacked up lazy servant. It would not be allowed now but it was actually a very funny part that she did extremely well. We all liked the daft cameo parts. Chapter 25I cannot make much sense from my log book for 1990. I certainly flew several sorties with some foreign and Commonwealth students. They were often, but not always, hard work but my experience meant that I often had to teach them. How I longed for reasonable student to fly with. One was on the way, more later. One odd event that I cannot remember at all was taking a student to Tours in France via Southampton. We were there for the weekend. The only bit I can remember is going into Southampton and wondering where Gabby%u2019s brother Paul lived.Gabby and I slowly got back together, but it was a long time before we were really a married couple. That summer, we had to pick Dickon up from his French pen friend%u2019s Thiery, house in Dijon. We stayed there for a day or two and then went to the Pyrenees where we were going to meet Ben.
