53Biter BittenThere I was, flying solo in my little Jet Provost and trying to keep my steep turns level, when suddenly another JP appeared in front of me.We avoided each other but he seemed to be trying to get on my tail (a bit before the formation phase so I had no chance of shaking him off).Later, on the ground, I was called into the Flight Commander's office and accused of keeping a poor lookout. Apparently the 2 Sqn QFI in the other aircraft had spun down on top of me and thought I should have seen him and avoided him!Fortunately John Wheeler agreed with me that the onus was on the spinning crew to carry out HASELL checks properly, and while a good lookout was vital, vertically above was a rather unlikely place to expect a collision threat to materialise.Dave CockburnDon%u2019t Panic, Mr ManneringOn the flying front, Muggy returned early from one solo flight because of a minor un-serviceability. When he was comfortably settled in the crew-room, the flight commander, John Cartwright, asked him what the snag was.Muggy told him.He was then asked what he did to handle the problem. %u201cFirst of all, sir, I panicked%u201d was his reply, reducing the crew-room to guffaws of laughter, the loudest of which came from said flight commander.Pete Bruce
