50Parodying Pilots We non-pilots would become irritated from time to time with the pilots%u2019 arm waving as they exchanged stories of their flights. One day Bob (Jumbo) Hooper had had enough of this. He performed a parody of the pilots whilst explaining his exploits during a day of engineering training with accompanying graphic arm movements. The pilots%u2019 arm waving stopped %u2026.. for a few days.Greg WhitearCocked HatA %u2018cocked hat%u2019 is the name given to the triangular intersection of three navigation bearings that marks the probability of your position. On returning from a navigation sortie my co-navigator was heard telling the %u2018crew room%u2019: %u2018One of Greg%u2019s cocked hats was so small that he got his dividers stuck in it%u2019.Greg WhitearVarsity High Speed PassThe Varsity pilots got sick of the jet jocks asking permission to do high speed low level passes across the airfield. On returning from a navigation sortie, our pilot, %u2018tongue in cheek%u2019, asked for permission to do a high speed low level pass across the airfield. Permission was granted and we really showed %u2018em - how to do a %u2018very slow%u2019 high speed pass!! Greg Whitear
