64Songs of Praise and RabbitingSongs of Praise was to be recorded by the BBC in the Church of St Michaels and All Angels with two rehearsals prior to the actual recording. Attendance was considered a parade and all were requiredto attend.I was Cadet Captain of Game Shooting and Dim Jones was a member. We had spotted that there was a very large colony of rabbits in a huge clump of nettles on the Horse Jumps field. We persuaded others to answer present for us at the Church and made our way in my venerable MG Magnette to the Jumps area. Whilst one drove, the other sat on the front wing of the car with a shotgun. Over the three sessions we bagged many rabbits caught in our headlights in the dusk. Sold to a Sleaford butcher at a shilling each, the rabbits paid for petrol, cartridges and a few beers. We heard later that the local bobby had been to the College enquiring about shooting at night %u2013 to be told it could not possibly be any of the Cadets who were all at the Church.
