4ForewordAir Marshal Cliff Spink CB CBE RAF RtdI suspect it is difficult for us all to grasp quite how 50 years have gone so quickly and there will be many memories that have faded with the passage of time. However, like so many memories that are a little further back in time, the days at Cranwell do remain sharp, not least because of the friendships that were forged and which have stood the test of time. I recall those times as being some of the happiest and most enjoyable of my young life. I think 94 were a pretty carefree bunch not particularly influenced by suffocating tradition or past prejudice but keen to move into a Royal Air Force which was both changing pace and direction. Above all we did know how to enjoy ourselves which I suspect was a challenge for the instructors and staff alike. And I have to smile when
