However, like so many memories that are a little further back in time, the days at Cranwell do remain sharp, not least because of the friendships that were forged and which have stood the test of time. I recall those times as being some of the happiest and most enjoyable of my young life. I think 94 were a pretty carefree bunch not particularly influenced by suffocating tradition or past prejudice but keen to move into a Royal Air Force which was both changing pace and direction. Above all we did know how to enjoy ourselves which I suspect was a challenge for the instructors and staff alike. And I have to smile when
