22The Gents%u2019 Urinal was a very long, wide, galvanized trough, set at a height which allowed most of us simply to dangle our manhood just above the constant stream of cold water washing down the trough. (Poor wee Graham Galbraith was at a bit of a disadvantage %u2013 but that is another story).I noticed hanging on the wall a sign %u201cNix doerspoelen%u201d which had the second %u201co%u201d obliterated in pen, albeit still legible. In response to my question, our Dutch host explained with great mirth that %u201cNix doerspoelen%u201d meant %u201cDon%u2019t make a mess%u201d %u2013 obviously their equivalent of %u201cOur aim is to keep this place clean %u2013 your aim will help%u201d. On the other hand, and please pardon the pun, %u201cNix doerspelen%u201d without that second %u201co%u201d meant %u201cDon%u2019t play with it%u201d. %u2018Nuff said, really. Prior to going to Cranwell, I frequently went to Saturday night dances in the hotel known as the Spittal of Glenshee, just below the Devil%u2019s Elbow on the road to Braemar.
