                                    Worrall,%u00a0%u00a0John%u00a0%u00a0(Entry 1-30)Worrall entered the College in 1930 and graduated on 19 December 1931. He initially joined No. 1 Squadron, and then transferred to 208 Squadron on 28 February 1933. In 1936, he went to China, where he attended the School of Oriental Studies at Peking University.At the outbreak of the Second World War Worrall was recalled and he returned to the UK in 1939. He was posted RAF Biggin Hill on 15th December 1939 and then joined 32 Squadron there on 30th April 1940 as a supernumerary. He took command on 6th May.The squadron was based at Biggin Hill but daily operated from the forward airfield at Hawkinge.On 20th May he damaged a Hs126 and on 19th July he probably destroyed a Me109. On 20th July Worrall damaged three Ju87s.The engine and gravity tank of his Hurricane, N2532, were badly damaged in the combat off Dover. He made a forced-landing near Hawkinge and the aircraft burned out.He was awarded the DFC (gazetted 6th August 1940).On 15th August Worrall shared in destroying a Me110. On the 16th he relinquished command of 32 to go to the Control Room at Biggin Hill as Senior Controller.Under Worrall%u2019s leadership, by the end of August 1940, No. 32 Squadron had claimed 71 enemy aircraft shot down for five pilots killed. By the end of August, No. 32 Squadron had destroyed 102 enemy aircraft In early August 1940 Worrall was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC).Worrall's personal score was a half share, made on 15 August 1940. In March 1944 W/C Worrall was SASO/HQ, No 216 Group.In July 1945 Worrall became Senior Personnel Staff Officer at HQ, Transport Command. He continued to serve in the RAF after the war, eventually rising to the rank of Air Vice-Marshal. He retired on 1 January 1963.
